Thursday's moment: A pause in the morning routine as I catch a glimpse of the kids through the viewfinder of an antique camera.

I think there’s value to finding the beauty in the every day. We should look for it and be thankful for it.”
— Frank Chimero

I love the idea that a positive attitude can influence your life for the better. Recently, I ran across something that aims to help with that goal.

Designer/illustrator Frank Chimero created The Being There Diary – a journal for recording the highlight of each day by answering one simple question: “What was the very best moment of your day?”

It seems that if you take the time to pause and reflect on your whole day to find the highlight, you’re more likely to keep the good with you and forget the other stuff —no matter how bad the day seemed. I love the idea that such a simple thing can help enrich your life and have an ripple effect on the lives of those around you.

The pursuit of joy in the every day. We should look for it and be thankful for it, Chimero says. As I think back on each day, the best moments aren’t always what I think they may be when the day begins, but they are always clear when I think about the day as a whole.

If you haven’t done this, I recommend it. It seems like a simple way to change your luck.

Happy Friday folks.

Hey Schmutzie, it’s been much easier than I thought to follow through with and I like that it spills over into your overall outlook on things. Thanks for visiting!

Thank you for this, I recently started journaling at night as a way to clear my head and help with insomnia issues. Basically a brain dump. I will definitely add in writing about the highlight of the day. What better way to fall asleep than thinking about that?

You’re welcome Francine! I’ve enjoyed it so much I had to share the idea. During dinner we ask the kids to tell us about their favorite part of the day, but didn’t really practice this ourselves. Score one for optimism!

Thanks Sherri. Sometimes images just scream to be captured – even if it’s through the viewfinder of another camera!
